Raina is extremely self conscious of her image at school, and fears that her braces will make her look like a “dork” or a “nerd” her friend group doesn’t help at all. Her teeth must be fixed through braces, headgear (only during the night), and more. This leads to a long process that continues for years. Unfortunately, they were her adult teeth and they weren’t going to grow back.
